HYDE PARK
CHRISTIAN CHURCH
MISSION WORK
We are called to serve those in need, and we at Hyde Park Christian Church heed that call. From our own state of Texas to places across the globe, we believe in reaching out to others in need.
MISSION IS OUR MISSION
2016: Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Hammett lead a group of nine HPCC volunteers traveling with Lifetree Adventures to be part of a life-changing ministry to the deaf in the Philippines. Our group joined an existing ministry to the deaf in Bohol that has dedicated over 30 years to deaf education in the Philippines, fighting to eradicate illiteracy through vocational training, communication skills training, and socialization. We assisted with construction of a new dormitory for the school and helped teach vocational classes for deaf high school students.

2015: HPCC traveled to San Antonio to volunteer with the Inman Center, a Disciples-sponsored community center that organizes programs to improve in the neighborhood, including youth summer recreation programs, sponsor-assisted living apartments and senior citizen homes, programs to combat substance abuse, after-school tutoring, and rec programs.

2014: HPCC traveled to Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries in Los Fresnos, Texas (July 30 – August 2). Work consisted mainly of light construction, painting, home repair, plumbing, and other types of repair.

2013: The trip was to the Dominican Republic, where we had an amazing time working with underprivileged children, using education to break the cycle of poverty. We volunteered through Outreach360, a non-profit organization working to transform the lives of children, families, communities, and the world through the education and development of disadvantaged children. Their "vision is a transformed world in which every child is able to pursue a college degree or to be gainfully employed upon reaching adulthood, enabling them to live a life of choice."
2012: We traveled to San Antonio to volunteer with the Inman Center, a Disciples-sponsored community center that organizes programs to improve in the neighborhood, including youth summer recreation programs, sponsor-assisted living apartments and senior citizen homes, programs to combat substance abuse, after-school tutoring, and rec programs.
Our young adults also worked in the Rio Grande valley area with Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries, helping to combat the poverty that's rampant around the border region in addition to helping immigrants and those seeking political asylum aid.

2011: HPCC went to Cornwall, Ontario (Canada) to help improve housing for low-income families.

2010: HPCC stayed within Texas, serving both the Inman Christian Center in San Antonio and the Southwest Good Samaritan Center.

2009: HPCC went to Alaska to help improve housing for low-income peoples.
